Tralee
Tralee Golf Club is one of our favourite links courses in the country, it really has it all. Designed by Arnold Palmer (the first course he designed in Europe) it stretches along the Atlantic coast, in fact you can see the Atlantic from every hole on the course.
One of my favourite holes is the hole number 13. It’s a par 3 that measures 159 yards but you must “fly it all the way” as your fairway is effectivly a cavernous hollow. The offical name for the hole is Brock’s Hollow. Accruacy is important and in some cases it pays to be slightly on the long side with the hope of rolling back off the sand dune but you do take the risk of getting your ball entangled in the wirey grass.
The present course was opened in 1984 after the club bought the land in 1980 with the aim of turning the course into one of the best in the world, to this aim they have been successful. The club has a excellent pro-shop and catering facilities and it really is an enjoyable location to spend a day golfing one of Ireland’s finest links course.
Our clients are always pleased to have played Tralee and often they tell us that it was the best course on the trip. If you would like to play Tralee as part of your Irish Golf Vacation then please do contact us.
