The European Club is a creation of Pat Ruddy, the famous Irish course designer and architect. It is a family owned club and has a very small membership. Visitors are always welcomed and the club has a great reputation for visiting golfers.


The course itself is a modern links, long in lenght with tight fariways, heavy rough and well positioned bunkers. There are 20 holes in play and in the past the course has held the Irish Close Professional Open – won in the past two years by Padraig Harrington on the week before he won his two British Opens. This is testimony enough to the examination of The European Club – it has a reputation of being a tough test and is suited to mid-low handicappers. It is only a matter of time before an Irish Open or European Tour Event finds its home at the European – it really is that good.
