Druids Glen

Type: Parkland
Par: 71
Location: Wicklow

Druids Glen golf course is one of the premier Parkland courses in Ireland (along with the K Club, Mount Juliet and Foto Island). The course hosted the Murphy's Irish Open from 1996-1999 and was the host venue for the Seve Trophy in 2002. The classic parkland course features many signature holes and provides golfers with a thrilling golf experience amidst a beautifully manicured landscape.

Druids Glen is often referred to as "The Augusta of Europe". The flora and fauna of the Glen provide a colourful backdrop to a magnificent golf course. The forests and streams produce a haven for wildlife in what was once a home to the Druids.

Set in 400 acres of gently rolling wooded countryside, from the beginning, it is apparent that Druids Glen is special. On the front nine some holes that stand out include the 6th and 8th. Rated as the second most difficult hole, the long uphill par four 6th requires a big drive to reach the green in two, and with trouble lurking to the right, the advice is to keep to the left of the fairway. The par three 8th is a fairly short but picturesque hole, with water to the front and left of a sloping green.

The inward nine have some fantastic holes including the par four 13th, par three 17th and par four 18th. The 13th (index 1) which plays from an elevated tee to a fairway flanked by a stream on the right and woods to the left, while you need to be brave to take on the green with your second shot over water. The final hole requires a long accurate drive to allow you the opportunity of reaching the green in two, otherwise it is a wedge to the pin.

Voted European Golf Resort Of The Year 2005-(IAGTO-International Association of Golf Tour Operators).
